In this hands-on, one-hour workshop, you'll discover and create with the tools poets use to bring a single moment to life so fully that a reader can see its color, hear its sound, and taste it. We will play with figurative language and sensory detail to discover the surprising ways language can transform something ordinary into something alive on the page.
No experience needed. If you can observe the world, you have everything you need to begin. With as much guidance as you need, you'll build a short poem of your own in a warm, low-pressure setting. You'll leave with delightful, new writing. You may also see the everyday world a little more like a poet does: as something that reveals itself when studied closely, especially when painted in words. Come curious, come as you are.
